The Democratic Republic of Congo issues a single eVisa category for international visitors: the Ordinary Flying Visa. This eVisa covers a range of travel purposes, including tourism and business.
You do not need to choose an eVisa type based on your reason for travel. Simply state your purpose during the application, and the Ordinary Flying Visa applies.

Purposes Covered Under the Ordinary Flying Visa
a. Tourism
Under the “Tourist” purpose, travellers can enjoy leisure activities and explore national parks, cultural sites, and other attractions across the DRC, including Virunga National Park, Mount Nyiragongo, Kahuzi-Biega National Park, and the capital city, Kinshasa.
b. Business
If your travel plans include business meetings, trade discussions, and short-term commercial activities in the DRC, you should select “Business” as your travel purpose when applying.
c. Transit
Travellers passing through the DRC en route to another destination should choose “Transit” as the reason for their visit.
d. Family Visit
Ideal for visitors wishing to meet their family, relatives, or close contacts residing in the DRC.
e. Official / Diplomatic
Allows diplomats or government officials visiting the DRC to engage in government-related or official assignments.
f. Conference / Event
Permits foreign nationals to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo to participate in corporate events, attend conferences, professional meetings, or other associated activities.
g. Work
Travellers planning to take up authorised, short-term work assignments in the Democratic Republic of Congo should choose “Work” as their purpose of travel.
h. Other
Selecting “Other” as the travel purpose during application allows travellers to visit DRC for medical treatment, cultural exchange or other authorised purposes.
Document Requirements for DRC Ordinary Flying Visa Purposes
Document requirements for the DRC eVisa depend on the purpose of the visit you choose while applying. Review each document carefully for a detailed clarification.
- Passport Bio Page: Must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival in the DRC. Screenshots and damaged passports are not accepted.
- Applicant Photograph: Must clearly show the full face of the applicant without any obstructions. Only colored and digital images are allowed.
- Request Letter from the Responsible Person: Must be written in French by the responsible person in DRC and not by the applicant, clearly mentioning the applicant’s details and purpose of travel.
