The DRC eVisa allows only short-term visits. You must clearly state your reason for travel in the application. Work or employment is not allowed with the DRC eVisa.

DRC eVisa Validity, Stay and Entry Type 

• eVisa Type: Ordinary Flying eVisa.
• Number of Entries: Single entry.
• Maximum Stay: 7 days.
• Validity: 90 days from the date of issue.

This means:

• You must enter Congo within 90 days of approval.
• Your stay inside the country is limited to 7 days, unless you extend it legally.

Documents Required

To apply successfully, you will need the following:

• Passport bio page:  Your Austrian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date .
• Recent passport photo: It must be clear, recent, and good quality.
• Application letter from you (the applicant):  This letter must be addressed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and should clearly explain: Why you are travelling, your travel dates and your trip details.

Important:  If your purpose is Business or Conference, this letter must be written on your company’s official letterhead.

The DRC eVisa application system offers multiple processing options for applicants to select from. 

• Standard: 11 - 13 Working Days.
• Rush: 8 - 11 Working Days
• Super Rush: 5 - 8 Working Days

Understanding the DRC Border Fee (VAP)

Getting the DRC eVisa is only part of the process.

• The eVisa is an online pre-approval (permission to travel).
• The VAP (Visa d’Entrée) is the official authorisation that permits entry and stay in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

What Happens When You Arrive in Congo?

At any official airport, seaport, or land border:

• Immigration will check your eVisa.
• Pay the VAP fee; this is separate from the eVisa fee.
• Immigration will place a VAP stamp in your passport. This stamp confirms your 7-day legal stay in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

If you need to stay longer than 7 days, you must request an extension in person at EMG/DGM Immigration.
