DRC eVisa for Bahamas Citizens

If you are travelling from The Bahamas, this page provides step-by-step instructions for applying for the DRC eVisa and preparing for arrival in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

What is the DRC eVisa?

The DRC eVisa is a digital travel authorisation that Bahamian citizens can apply for online before travelling, without the need to visit an embassy or consulate.

Important: The eVisa alone does not complete the entry process. Entry is finalised only when immigration authorities issue a Visa d’Entrée (VAP) stamp upon arrival.

Validity, Stay, and Entry Type

  • Visa Type: Ordinary Flying eVisa
  • No. of Entries: Single
  • Max. Stay: 7 Days
  • Validity: 90 Days

Allowed Travel Purposes

Permitted travel purposes include tourism, business meetings or conferences, family visits, and medical travel, among others. For a complete list of eligible purposes, please refer to the DRC eVisa Types webpage.

Paid work or employment is not permitted under this visa type.

What You Need Before You Apply

Preparing the required documents in advance helps ensure a smooth and efficient application process. To complete the application, applicants will need the following:

  • Passport bio page (the passport must remain valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date).

  • An application letter addressed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo explaining the purpose of travel, travel dates, and itinerary.

Border Entry Step (VAP Explained)

This step is essential and often misunderstood.

  • The eVisa allows you to travel to the DRC.
  • The VAP (Visa d’Entrée) officially authorises your stay.
  • The VAP fee is separate from the eVisa fee and is paid upon arrival.

What Happens When You Land

Upon arrival at any official airport, seaport, or land border:

  • Immigration reviews your eVisa, passport, and other required documents.
  • You pay the VAP border fee.
  • A VAP stamp is placed in your passport, confirming your authorised 7-day stay in the DRC.

Planning to Stay a Bit Longer?

To stay beyond 7 days, you must request an extension in person at the EMG/DGM Immigration. Fees vary by extended stay duration.
