DRC eVisa Guide for the Citizens of Ghana

Travelling from Ghana to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is now stress-free and straightforward. Thanks to the new digital visa system, Ghanaian passport holders can apply online with confidence, knowing that their personal details are protected and that the process is straightforward from the comfort of their home in Accra, Kumasi, or anywhere else in the world.

This electronic system is designed to be fast and secure, ensuring your personal details remain safe as you prepare for your trip to Central Africa.

Understanding the "Ordinary Flying eVisa"

Before you begin your application, it is crucial to understand the specific rules attached to this digital permit. The DRC government has strict guidelines regarding how long you can stay and when you must travel.

  • The 90-Day Entry Window: Once your eVisa is approved, you have precisely 90 days to use it to enter the DRC. If you do not travel within this timeframe, the permit will expire.
  • The 7-Day Stay Limit: This online visa allows you to stay in the country for up to 7 days per entry.
  • Permitted Activities: You can use this visa for tourism, visiting family members, or attending business meetings.

Important Note: For some applicants, 7 days is often not enough time to experience a country as large as the DRC. However, you cannot request a longer stay through the online portal. If you need to stay beyond the 1-week mark, you must visit a Direction Générale de Migration office once you arrive in a city such as Kinshasa to apply for a formal extension of your stay.

Paperwork Needed for Ghanaians

To complete your online application smoothly, upload high-quality digital scans of your documents. Ensure your Ghanaian passport's biopage is clear, your passport photo has a white background, and your covering letter clearly states your travel purpose and accommodation details. Properly prepared documents help prevent delays or rejection.

  1. Valid Ghanaian Passport: You need a colour scan of the main page (the biopage with your photo). Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you plan to enter the DRC.
  2. Recent Passport Photo: This must be a digital image taken against a solid white background. Avoid wearing hats or glasses that obscure your face.
  3. A Covering Letter: This is a simple, typed-out letter explaining why you are going to the DRC and where you plan to sleep (such as a hotel name or a family member's address).
    • For Business: If you are travelling for work, this letter should be on your company’s official letterhead.

Costs and Timeframes for the DRC eVisa

When applying for the DRC eVisa, the total cost is split into two parts. You will pay an online service fee to process the application. Later, an entry fee is paid directly to the authorities upon arrival at the DRC airport.

We provide 3 different speeds for processing your request, depending on how quickly you need to fly:

  1. Standard Processing - This is the best value for money. It takes 11 - 13 Working Days to complete. We recommend this for travellers who have booked their flights well in advance.
  2. Rush Processing - If you are on a slightly tighter schedule, this option takes 8 - 11 Working Days to process.
  3. Super Rush Processing - For those with urgent travel needs or last-minute business trips, this is the fastest choice. Your eVisa will be ready in just 5 - 8 Working Days.

The Step-by-Step Application Process

We have simplified the application into four straightforward steps to help Ghanaian travellers feel guided and assured throughout the process:

Step 1: Fill out the Form

Enter your personal details, passport information, and your planned travel dates carefully.

Step 2: Include Companions

If you are travelling with family or colleagues, use the "Add Applicant" button to process everyone’s visa at the same time.

Step 3: Make the Payment

Use a secure credit or debit card to pay the online service fee.

Step 4: Check Your Email
